The Image Designer mini-publish in May of 2004 gave Image Designers (IDs) the new ability to grant holo-emotes to themselves and their customers. Whereas traditional emotes caused avatars to perform certain animations, holo-emotes involve special graphical effects independent of the avatar's movements. All holo-emotes are visual effects only; they do not produce sounds.

You can request holo-emotes from IDs with skills in the hairstyling tree. IDs are granted more holo-emotes as they level up this tree. To the left are the in-game instructions for using holo-emotes. Simply type /holo help to access these instructions. Holo-emotes have different durations, refered to as Low (10-15 seconds) and High (20+ seconds) below. There is a 30-second timer between starting one holo-emote and the next.

Beehive (Return to top)

Duration: Short (10-15 seconds)

ID Skill Level: Hair I

Visibility: Low

Description: A small swarm of bees (or flies) circles around the character's head and upper torso.

Blossom (Return to top)

Duration: Long (over 20 seconds)

ID Skill Level: Hair IV

Visibility: Medium

Description: An ever-changing wreath of flowers encircles the character's head. The flowers slowly grow, shrink, and replace each other.

Brainstorm (Return to top)

Visibility: Medium

Description: Short forks of lightning emanate from the character's head and cast a bluish glow around it.

Bubblehead (Return to top)

Duration: Short

ID Skill Level: Hair II

Visibility: Low

Description: Bubbles cover the top of the character's head as if the character was using shampoo.

Bullhorns (Return to top)

Duration: Long

ID Skill Level: Hair III

Visibility: Medium

Description: Translucent blue horns sprout from the character's head. The tips are lit as if they are candles. These horns turn in sync with the character's head.

Butterflies (Return to top)

Visibility: High

Description: A swarm of butterflies is released and fly outwards from the character's head.

Champagne (Return to top)

Duration: Short

ID Skill Level: Hair III

Visibility: Low

Description: Bubbles float up from the character's head and then pop a foot or two above it. This is a very subtle effect.

Haunted (Return to top)

Duration: Long

ID Skill Level: Hair IV

Visibility: Medium

Description: A translucent blue skull with glowing red eyes appears above the character. It turns in sync with the character's head.

Hearts (Return to top)

Duration: Short

Visibility: High

Description: Red hearts float up from the character's head, turning to purple as they rise.

Hologlitter (Return to top)

Duration: Short

ID Skill Level: Hair II

Visibility: Low

Description: Colored sparkles spring from the character's head and drift down to the ground.

Visibility: High

Description: A brightly glowing yellow note spirals up and down around the character's head and torso, leaving trails of ghost images that gradually fade to blue.

Imperial (Return to top)

Duration: Long

ID Skill Level: Hair I

Visibility: High

Description: A huge Imperial symbol flashes above the character's head, then is replaced by a smaller rotating Imperial symbol. See the Rebel holo-emote for a picture of the large symbol.

Kitty (Return to top)

Duration: Long

ID Skill Level: Hair III

Visibility: High

Description: Cat-like images are projected out of the character's head. Rocking side to side, they grow and become translucent, then disappear completely.
